SpeechFun, aimed to develop the speech practice environment on a mobile App. The automatic voice analyser will 1. detect, classify & measure speech disorders, 2. provide real-time feedback and 3. generate performance report which allow both independent practice at home and aid for up-to-date follow-up recommendation by Speech Therapist.
How it works
By locating some key speech sounds that the patient have the most trouble with in speech therapy, the app is able to record the SOUND that the patient has pronounced and analyse the performance by MACHINE LEARNING.
When the patient pronounce a word/or a particular sound that REQUIRED by the Speech Therapist, a score will be given based on how well they said the word.
By giving feedback instantly, it allows the patient, child, their family, and the Speech Therapist to track how well they’ve said the sounds they’ve practiced, and allows for review of the sounds the children are struggling with.
Finally the therapist can refer to the performance of student thought-out the week and give personify opinion in next meeting.
Our Target Group
According to The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists, speech therapy can be divided into 7 categories, and SpeechFun is mainly assist with the Developmental Language Disorders & the Speech Sound Disorders.
SpeechFun is a COMPLEMENT app
Besides, this app CANNOT and it is NOT designed to replace working with a speech-language pathologist, but instead, to complement it. It allow the patient to practice at home in a more easier and accurate way, especially in between sessions with their therapist. It is the practice at home between therapy sessions that really allows children to continue to build good speech with a more effective way.
The speech recognition factor in this app ensures that what the patient to learn in his or her therapy session isn’t practiced incorrectly all week before seeing the therapist again. It is hoped that it can help general public with speech problem and even be used widely in school setting.
